At Christian World Church, we believe in the doctrine preached in the book of Acts. The Statements of Faith below are the basis of our beliefs and teachings.
The Scriptures: The Holy Bible was written by men divinely inspired and is God’s revelation of himself to man. In its original manuscripts, it is a perfect treasure of divine instruction. It has God for its author, salvation for its end, and truth, without any mixture of error, for its matter. Therefore, all Scripture is totally true and trustworthy. It reveals the principles by which God judges us, and therefore is, and will remain to the end of the world, the true center of Christian union, and the supreme standard by which all human conduct, creeds and religious opinions should be tired. All Scripture is a testimony of Christ, who is Himself the focus of divine revelation.
The One True God: We believe in one God revealed to us as Father, Son and Holy Spirit. We believe that Jesus Christ, the Son of God was the fullness of the Godhead (deity) in bodily form. (Deut. 6:4, Col. 2:9-10)
Man, His Fall & Redemption: Man is a created being, made in the likeness and image of God. But through Adam’s transgression and fall, sin came into the world. The Bible tells us in Romans 3:23 that “All have sinned and come short of the glory of God.” In Romans 3:10 it says, “As it is written, there is non righteous, no not one.” Jesus Christ, the Son of God, was manifested to undo the work of the devil, and He gave His life and shed His blood to redeem and restore man back to God. (Romans 5:12, Romans 3:23, Romans 2:10, 1 John 3:8) Salvation is the gift of God to man, separate from works and the law, and is made operative by grace through faith in Jesus Christ, producing works acceptable to God. (Ephesians 2:8)
Eternal Life & New Birth: Man’s first step toward salvation is Godly sorrow that works repentance. The new birth is available to all mankind, and when the Gospel Jesus Christ is obeyed, salvation takes place. He is born again. His Spirit becomes alive to God eternally. (2 Corinthians 7:10, 1 John 5:12, John 3:3-5)
Water Baptism: The scriptural mode of baptism is immersion, and is only for those who have fully repented, having turned from their sins and love of the world. We believe that the process of Salvation, according to Ephesians 2:8-9, is by grace through faith. We believe that baptism, which is an act of faith, accomplishes both a burial with Christ and circumcision of the heart, and is a vital part of this process. (Matthew 28:19, Romans 6:14, Colossians 2:12, Acts 2:38, Acts 8:36-39) Baptism should be administered by a duly authorized minister of the gospel, in obedience to the Word of God, and in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, according to the Acts of the Apostles 2:38, 8:16, 10:48, 19:5; thus obeying and fulfilling Matthew 28:19.
Baptism in the Holy Sprit: John the Baptist, in Matthew 3:11 said, “He shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost, and with fire.” Jesus in Acts 1:5 said, “Ye shall be baptized with the Holy Ghost not many days hence.” Luke tells us in Acts 2:4, “They were filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.” The terms “baptize with the Holy Ghost and fire”, “filled with the Holy Spirit” and “the gift of the Holy Ghost” are synonymous terms used interchangeably in the Bible. It is scriptural to expect all who receive the gift to receive the same physical, initial sign of speaking with other tongues. The speaking with other tongues as recorded in Acts 2:4, 10:46, and 19:6 and the gift of tongues, as explained in 1 Corinthians, chapters 12 and 14, are the same in essence, but different in use and purpose. The Lord, through the Prophet Joel, said, “I will pour out my spirit upon all flesh.” (Joel 2:28) Peter, in explaining this phenomenal experience said, “Having received of the Father the promise of the Holy Ghost, he hath shed forth this, which ye now see and hear.” (Acts 2:33) Further, “the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call.” (Acts 2:39)
Sanctification: The Bible teaches that without holiness no man shall see the Lord. We believe in the doctrine of sanctification as a definite, yet progressive work of grace, which commences at the time of regeneration and continues until the consummation of salvation. (Hebrews 12:14, 1 Thessalonians 5:23, 2 Peter 3:18, 2 Corinthians 3:18, Philippians 3:12-14, 1 Corinthians 1:30)
Divine Healing: Healing is for the physical ills of the human body and is wrought by the power of God through the prayer of faith and by laying on of hands. It is provided in the atonement of Christ, and it is the privilege of every member of the church today according to the will of God. (Mark 16:18, James 5:14-16, 1 Peter 2:24, Matthew 8:17, Isaiah 53:4-5)
Resurrection of the Just & the Return of Our Lord: The angels said, “…this same Jesus shall so come in this manner…” (Acts 1:11) His coming is imminent. When He comes, “the dead in Christ shall rise first: then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air.” (1 Thessalonians 4:16-17) He shall return to earth, as King of Kings and Lord of Lords. He will come to judge mankind, raise the dead and to make all things new.
